DJ fixes, screen by screen

Part 1 is bugs inside designs you already approved: I build those as shown. Part 2 is decisions: every option drawn from CrowdVolt's own components, Mobbin references, and my pick. Nothing is committed. Drawn screens match the app's sizes, fonts and colors; real simulator captures of the existing screens are being taken and replace drawings as they land.

What broke on your screens

  • 1Expired. Ask DJ again. Your Fisher auto-buy suggestion from Saturday. A timer killed it when doors opened, so it told you to ask again about a show that had started. It names nothing and gives no reason. The app drew bare text inside a frame meant for a whole card, so the words touch the border.
  • 2The grey ring is not a loader. It's the entry dial. Before 10 PM Friday is 1 hour of a 28 hour festival, so it draws an empty ring with a 4% purple tick. It reads as a spinner.
  • 3Updated, when nothing updated. DJ saves a copy of the approval card while it works, then the real one. The copy folds into this row. Same card twice.
  • 4The approve card came late. The server saved DJ's text and the card at the same instant, 6:09:21.8 PM. The app's 0.7 s check only picks up text and drops the update that carries the card, so the card waits for some later refresh, up to 20 s. Then it waits up to 0.4 s for its photo, unrolls top to bottom, and the copy above folds and shifts everything.
  • 5At your max, a max you never set. DJ carried $112 over from the Fisher plan. Approve would have set a $112 limit on City of Gods while the price was $135.
  • 6Skipped · Undo in an empty box. Same frame bug as 1. Undo lasts about 4.5 s, then the empty box stays in the chat forever.

  • 7Cut off pills. A 36 pt close tile shares the row, so each pill is 76 pt wide and its second line can't fit.
  • 8The close tile. A fourth tile whose only job is closing the section.
  • 9$13 under now. Subtraction you can do yourself. With price history the server says how often the price gets there; without it, it falls back to this.
  • 10Blank, then a blurry photo on Buy it for me. A 2.95 MB photo and a 256 px copy stretched to full screen. Details below.
  • 11Approve greyed out with no card. Nothing points you to Add a card. Details below.
  • 12The loader. A ring spinning in a grey bubble, then swapped for another component when DJ's status arrives, so it restarts and snaps wider. Your reply took 15.2 s, almost all model time, so you stare at it.

Two money bugs, nothing spent

DJ would keep auto-buying on a show ops hid, deleted or postponed, and Buy for me skips listings filed under a sub-type that the card still prices. I checked production: there are 6 DJ plans in total and none is running, so neither has cost anything. Both get fixed first, before anyone approves a Buy for me.

You already decided this one: the approved canvas (screen D3) says that with no card, the main button is Add a card instead of a greyed out Approve, and it opens checkout's own add card form (D4). The app shipped without it: the Payment row says Add a card in the same grey as everything else, Approve stays grey even after you tick, and tapping it only shakes. The fix uses your existing card form, unchanged. Real captures of it, and of today's sheet, are being taken on the simulator and go here.

The photo on Buy it for me

Blank: Crankdat's photo is a 2.95 MB PNG, 1536 px, and the sheet only waits 1 s for it. The card thumbnail and the full screen photo download the same huge file. Blurry: to read the photo's shape, the app decodes a 256 px copy, and the image cache then hands that small copy to the full screen photo, stretched 5 times. It happens the first time each show's sheet opens, then sticks for the session.

When the show or the tickets change

1No timers. A card stays live until the world says no. The 24 hour and doors open timers go. Everything ends at last call.
2Ended cards fold to one row that says why: Show's over, Cancelled, Taken down, Not now. Never bare text, never Ask DJ again.
3A real next step or nothing. Pick another type, Keep going, Update card. If there's nothing to do, no button.
4Anything that stops money says so once: one line from DJ, and a push if a plan was running.
5Approve and every buy check the show and the tickets first: not hidden, deleted, cancelled or postponed, ticket type still sold.

The 2 running pill

What the header has to answer when you open DJ: is DJ doing something for me, and does anything need me. Plans run for days; you mostly come back from a push. Today one pill does both, and on Oct 16 you made it the one home for plans.

What Mobbin shows: nobody puts background jobs on an assistant's face (a ring there means identity, presence or a timer). Counts sit as a badge on an icon, and the best match to our plans sheet is Fiverr's chat header icon that opens a half sheet. And needs you is never the same pill recolored: it's its own tinted row with the reason and one button.

Why D: it keeps your Oct 16 rule (one home for plans, the same sheet) and only swaps the trigger from words to the iOS pattern, so the header stops shouting a number. Needs you gets words and a button, so you can fix it without opening anything. DJ's face stays DJ: it only moves while DJ is replying in this chat. The glyph is CrowdVolt's own Layers icon; the row is built from the plan row we already have.

While DJ works

Option B, frame by frame

One grey bubble from start to finish, in the spot where DJ's reply will be. It says what DJ is doing right now, from the server's real steps, with a light passing over the words. No spinner, no ring, never swapped for another component. When the reply comes, the words cross into the reply inside the same bubble. If a card is coming, its frame takes its final size first, so nothing jumps.

Today every Ask DJ tap on an event is a fresh open, and the server writes a new answer and card unless the last thing in the chat is that same answer, word for word, with the same price. Chat about anything else, or let the price move a dollar, and you get it again.

Order of work

1. Money gates. Show and ticket type checks on Approve and on every buy, sub-types included. Server.
2. The card lands with the text. The app reads the whole turn when DJ finishes, no photo wait, no unroll, no copy card. App and server.
3. One row for every ended card. Not now with Undo, Show's over, Cancelled, Taken down. Timers out, real reasons in. App and server.
4. Part 2, as you pick: header, loader, Set a price, Not now, the dial.
6. Show changes speak. Cancelled, moved, postponed, taken down, ended: one line, a push, the right state. Server.
7. Max only from your own words. Server.
8. No card points to Add a card. App.
9. Sharp photo on the first frame. Sized copies, fetched early. App, plus photo sizes from the server.
Also running: every button on a plan's page does its job in one tap. That fix is already being built.
Then the proof: each frame on this page recorded from the simulator on the real build, side by side with these drawings. Nothing goes to phones until you've seen that.
